Home / Our Story
How a chef's obsession with Israeli street food became a beloved institution in Tel Aviv's most iconic boulevard.
Our Origin
In the summer of 2022, chef Avi Mizrachi pushed a single falafel cart onto Rothschild Blvd with one goal: to serve the most honest, flavour-packed Israeli street food in the city.
Avi had spent eight years cooking in Tel Aviv's fine-dining scene — first at a Michelin-recommended seafood restaurant in Jaffa, then as sous-chef at a celebrated Neve Tzedek tasting-menu kitchen. But he kept coming back to the food he grew up eating: falafel wrapped in warm pita, shakshuka scooped straight from the pan, sabich assembled with care by a market vendor who knew every customer by name.
That original cart sold out its first 80 portions in under two hours. Within six months, TelAviv Bites had a permanent kitchen on Rothschild and a loyal customer base stretching across the entire city.

What Drives Us
We work directly with farms in the Galilee, Negev and the Sharon Valley. Every ingredient has a name and a story.
We hire locally, source locally and give back — donating unsold food each Friday to the Florentine Community Kitchen.
Our hummus soaks overnight. Our spice blends are ground fresh each morning. Good food simply cannot be rushed.
Israeli street food is a living tradition spanning dozens of immigrant communities. We honour every layer of that heritage.
